It was a busy one for us. So much so that we didn't even write about it! But what we DID do is see you at Tiki Oasis, Patagonia and Surfrider events, our Sierra  shows, in the Bay Area, as far as Reno, and even our hometown of LA. We had a good time, didn't we?  Before the year ended, we found ourselves in the studio to record some new goodies for y'all. We'll be releasing those this year, and we think you'll appreciate our evolution. New flight destinations, if you will. We'll keep you posted on all of it.

As for 2023, it is quickly taking shape for another solid year. Outside of those previously mentioned recordings, we're beginning to fill the calendar with shows, hopefully one in your area. And if we're not playing music, we could be just playing, period. That is, playing in the big hills and streams around CA, both for pleasure and purpose. Between becoming CalTrout Media Ambassadors and Southern Sierra Fly Fishers Club Conservation Co-Chairs, we'll be frolicking on the CA roads, trails, and... well, off the trails, too. He proposed just hours earlier at the Luau. To top it off, they threw a party in their hotel room where we had a chance to rock out and celebrate with them. Many cool cats and kittens showed including and not limited to Yvette and Aaron’s super lovable crew + TO royalty Miss Tiki Oasis 2017 Miss Di Lovely & Miss Tiki Oasis 2018 Ruby Champagne! Along with a few others that did not escape our blurred noggins Linda Noel, Volcano Designs, Central California Tiki, Troy, Billy … and many more along with some yummy libations More highlights to come and thank you Otto and Baby Doe for once again hitting one out of the park! Special thanks to Hotel Valley Ho for waiting until our last song before sending in security * It must’ve been the Led Zeppelin cover we played. That’s always a red flag!

Like many, we isolated in 2020. "Prickly Pear" was born out of the pandemic summer of 2020 and fine-tuned by the intoxicating fumes of California wildfires. You may stream it and enjoy it on Spotify. This is an instrumental record crafted for BMG Production Music and designed to be a musical road trip through deserts, canyons and the southwest (hence the title). A massive thank you to: Criss Wilhite for a creative space to work in, Peter Adams - cool keyboard touches (my favorite being the clavinet), Aniela Perry - cello magic, Ilya Portnov - harmonica and jaw harp, Joel Martin - pedal steel, Katherine Liner for her beautiful voice, George Bernardo - drumz 'n' percussion, Probyn Gregory for tootin' his horn, Gee Rabe - killing it on the accordion, Rick Jeschke Deliz - nylon string flourishes, Andy Carpenter whose mastering skills made it total ear candy, and last but not least, Yoav Goren who shepherded this along. Although we probably will not play much of this live, if ever, we are proud of it and upon a recent listen while road-tripping, it felt great. Roll around in the dirt, go sprinting naked through the sagebrush and listen!

• Sunday, July 18th at the Huntington Beach Pier for Surfing Sundays. 11AM, Free.
• Saturday, July 31 and Sunday August 1st at Tiki Oasis, San Diego. More details to follow.
• Thursday, August 5th at the Casbah, San Diego for a very special event screening our friend Aubree's film Beer City - celebrating San Diego's vibrant brewery scene. *Brilliantly edited by Dave Wadsworth.
• Saturday, August 21st in Oakhurst, California at the Queen's Inn by the River.

I don't believe any of us could have imagined what has occurred in 2020 so far, but here we are, doing our best to find enjoyment amongst it all. Our trip to Mexico City was fruitful (minus Bernard's bout of food poisoning!), and that trip has helped sustain us during our quarantine the last few months. If the memories and vibes weren't enough, we had a remarkable collaboration with Perro Agradecido to keep us occupied. It comes in the form of a studio session where we recorded 4 tracks for an EP titled "PERRO AVION." 
Lemme tell you, this ain't your average twangy surf, and it ain't your average cumbia. We combined our flavors to create a delicious meal, like that one where you're with your closest family and friends, the tastiest dishes, imbibing the beverages of your choice, laughing and dancing til you sweat. THOSE vibes. THAT mood. 
PAR AVION’s Muscle Beach features Perro Agradecido’s unique surf+garage+cumbia and represents a much anticipated opportunity for Par Avion’s Southern California’s modern surf to be combined with a band rich in Latin percussion flavors and Perro’s Sys Malakian’s clever guitar touches. Words cannot express how delightful it was creating this track. Sierra Nevada is a different groove and mood piece that focuses on the core Par Avion formula of guitar, bass and drums. Did we mention our buddy Dusty Watson was with us? Yup. He's the lucky one (or are we?) on these fresh recordings, keeping it all moving. Believe when we tell ya we had a good time.
PERRO AGRADECIDO’s Cero Miedo and Temazcaloop are two creations of Perro Agradecido included in the “Perro Avion” EP. Temazcaloop features Par Avion and their danceable sound added to Dusty Watson’s garage drumming creating a unique atmosphere, is just the perfect combination between dance and pleasure. Cero Miedo is one of the latest Perro Agradecido’s songs. It represents the heat from the last song at a concert - the one that makes the people want more and the one the musicians enjoy the most. Ahhhh... what a night.
The PERRO AVION EP is currently available for pre-sale at your preferred music destination - Google Play, Amazon, iTunes and the like.
